Cook Country Social Club – Full Day Intensive – 23rd May

We are very fortunate to host one of the iconic improv groups from the OG improv days in Chicago: Cook County Social Club. Over the course of the day participants will work with all 3 members, Greg Hess, Brendan Jennings and Mark Raterman. tThe workshop focuses on two different aspect of improv.

Workshop Part 1:  Scenes Made Simple
Cook County Social Club has always believed that starting simply, learning how to react and listen, and letting your unique comedic voice shine through characters leads to great scenes. In this workshop, we will focus on getting out of our heads and being playful and creative, moving past “rules” to learn how to effectively build scenes together.
.
Workshop Part 2:  Heighten & Tighten
Cook County Social Club will teach new ways of heightening through emotion, pattern, and physicality. If you have ever been in a scene that feels stagnant, there is a good chance the players are not discovering ways to heighten. We will learn how to give your scenes the jolt they need to keep moving forward.
.

Cook County Social Club was named “Best Improv Group” by the Chicago Reader and a “Legendary improv team” by the Chicago Tribune. Their sold out show ran for over seven years at iO Chicago where their raucous, kinetic style of play quickly developed cult status. They later went on to be a staple at UCB LA. Additionally, Cook County ran their own independent training center for several years in Chicago. CCSC arrives in Dublin following a sold out run in London for the Big Scene Improv Festival, and their 21st Anniversary shows in Chicago.
