SUMMARY:Improv Level 1 – Weekend Intensive
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever found yourself stuck for words?\nEver been expected to make a decision on the spot?\nAre you looking to feel reconnected?\nWant to do this in a fun and supportive environment?\nImprovisation is a fun yet powerful way to release your creative potential in a fun and supportive environment! On the course, we explore the basics and fundamentals of improvisation both as a performing and professional skill. The course and workshops are designed to be fun and liberating as we unlock our creativity and conquer any inhibitions or fears we harbour when presenting or communicating through improv.\nIn the modern hybrid working environment with more face to face interactions, our need for connectivity, having outlets outside of home and work, and recharging our personal and professional relationship skills becomes important again. Improv is a great tool to further develop and enhance these skills.\nAt the end of the course, participants will grasp the fundamentals of improvisation and will be able to apply those new skills to your personal, professional and performing life. From speaking off the cuff, to bringing an edge to your presentations, improv will bring an authentic edge to all aspects of what you do!\nCourse Content:\n\nPrinciples of Improv\nCollaborating off the cuff & building trust with others\nConquering self-imposed barriers to success\nSpeaking authentically\nInspiring and engaging a room\nStatus – Presence\nBuilding Confidence on (and off) stage\nConfidence speak off the script\nDeveloping Scene Work\n\n\nRunning as a Weekend Intensive on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th March 2024 from 10:30am to 5pm both days.\n\nVenue\nTeacher’s Club Theatre (Club na Múinteoirí) ( https://clubnamuinteoiri.com/ )\n36 Parnell Square West\nDublin 1\nD01 T6V6\n\nCourse cost is €230.  Class size is capped to ensure maximum benefit for all participants.\n\n\nCurriculum\nWhat is Improvisation (improv)?\nImprov means actively listening and reacting without pre-planning. It encourages us to be adaptable. We do this throughout the day – E.G. Forced to make a decision without all of the facts, being put on the spot, negotiating a deal, brainstorming meetings, the list goes on. By using the core principles of improvisation; collaboration, communication, creativity and fun – we can react more flexibly and spontaneously while at the same time build our confidence. In the current economic environment, individuals are expected to be highly adaptable and rise to many unseen challenges.\nLearning Outcomes\n• Proficiency in the fundamentals of improvisation\n• The ability to demonstrate coherent off the cuff communication\n• Express authentic unplanned emotion and empathy through dialogue and physicality\n• Ability to demonstrate status and confidence both in and out of character\n• The ability to define teamwork and demonstrate effective teamwork in a group setting.\nTopics covered:\n• Fundaments of improv\n• Teamwork and team building\n• Connecting with emotion\n• Status and Influence\n• Character development & storytelling\n• Narrative structure\n\n
